Executive Chef Alfreda Lockett

Alfreda LockettExecutive Chef Alfreda Lockett embraced her passion of Southern-style cooking from the generational legacy of her grandparents, who were entrepreneurs in the restaurant industry in the 1940s in Forsyth, Georgia. As a third-generation prodigy of Southern style cooking, Lockett learned at an early age that quality food is a major ingredient to good living. Lockett has always been an avid traveler, from the bayous of New Orleans to the originality of China Town in Washington, D.C., and those culinary experiences have transcended into the culinary masterpieces that she creates daily from scratch.
Raised and educated in Macon, Lockett graduated from A.L. Miller High School and attended Crandall College and Macon State College. Lockett acknowledged that education was the tool to prepare her for a world of experiences. After 30 years of working in corporate America, Lockett decided to retool herself as an entrepreneur in the culinary field. Following her vision to pursue a lifelong dream of owning her own restaurant, Lockett enrolled at Helms College to receive formal culinary training. She graduated from the Diploma of Culinary Arts program in June 2011, and said Helms College equipped her with the tools necessary to be a business leader in culinary arts.
Lockett leads a healthy lifestyle through fitness and healthy cuisine. She believes in preparing fresh, nutritious meals from her community garden to assist her customers in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. An advocate of community strength and empowerment, Lockett nurtures the raw talents of young chefs in her community in house and community centers as she was also nurtured early in her career.
She is also making her mark on the Macon-Middle Georgia food scene. Executive Chef Lockett and her husband, Sous Chef Richard, are co-owners of MeMaw’s @ LGs. Their trademark is “Wholesome food at an affordable price.” MeMaw’s @ LGs is a Southern-style, full-service restaurant with Lockett’s unique touch of lovingly crafted menu selections from wholesome soups and salads to signature blackened seafood.
