At Helms College, we are passionate about teaching culinary arts to aspiring chefs and gourmands. In an effort to share this passion with others, we are holding a Kids in the Kitchen culinary day camp for students who love cooking. The goal of this one-day Helms College culinary camp is to introduce young culinary artists to this fast-growing industry while exposing them to culinary skills. During this event, students will take a hands-on approach to the planning and preparation of barbecue delicacies such as pulled pork, pork ribs, barbecued chicken and accompanying dishes. This opportunity provides students with knowledge and experience that can only be gained by working alongside professional chef instructors.
In addition to learning culinary skills that they can carry throughout their life, campers will also serve their culinary creations at lunch following the class. Each student can host up to two guests afterward at Edgar’s Bistro to enjoy their creations.
This unique event is open to ages 12-16 and will be held on Thursday, July 13th from 9am-2pm at our Helms College Macon campus at the Polly Long Denton School of Hospitality. Lunch will follow immediately within Edgar’s Bistro located next door to the Polly Long Denton School of Hospitality at 5171 Eisenhower Parkway in Macon.
